In loving memory of the most exceptional canine companion at the winery...

Updated: Mar 3, 2023

RRV has unveiled an innovative wine label, chester., aimed at championing and aiding the nearby animal rescue organizations. RRV has introduced a fresh and unique wine brand, chester., with a strong commitment to backing the local animal rescue efforts.

Chester, a friendly dog, was saved from the streets of Baltimore City and found a new home at Russian River Vineyards. He had a talent for socializing and enjoyed welcoming visitors and joining them on tours of the RRV estate.

Chester was an extraordinary mix of German Shorthaired Pointer and Labrador Retriever, a unique blend that made him a one-of-a-kind companion. With an insatiable thirst for adventure and an enthusiasm for trying new things, Chester embraced every opportunity that came his way. Whether it was exploring the scenic winery, roaming through picturesque vineyards, or immersing himself in the gentle flow of the river, Chester found pure joy in these experiences. But above all, he cherished the moments spent with his beloved humans. Gathered around a cozy fire, he would eagerly join in the conversations, his attentive nature making him a perfect listener. An avid lover of outdoor activities, Chester adored kayaking, fishing, and hiking, reveling in the thrill of each endeavor. And of course, he couldn't help but develop a special fondness for the people who shared his passion for wine. Whenever his humans uttered the magical words, "Let's go!", Chester's tail would wag with excitement, ready to embark on another extraordinary journey.

RRV is making a generous contribution to assist the Dogwood Animal Rescue Project by donating a portion of their proceeds from the sales of chester. wine and merchandise. This act of kindness demonstrates RRV's commitment to supporting animal welfare.

Located in Sonoma County, CA, Dogwood Animal Rescue is an altruistic organization dedicated to rescuing and protecting animals in need. Unlike traditional shelters, Dogwood is foster-based, ensuring that animals are lovingly cared for in the homes of our compassionate volunteers until they find their forever homes. Our mission at Dogwood is to provide invaluable support to both animals and the individuals who cherish them, offering rescue services, rehoming assistance, spay/neuter initiatives, and educational programs.

In Sonoma County in 2015, a compassionate team of animal enthusiasts and experienced rescuers observed their surroundings and contemplated, "How can we make a difference?" Dogwood Animal RescueDogwood, a non-profit organization, was established with the primary aim of assisting animals through rescue efforts, finding them new homes, and extending help to animals requiring spaying and neutering procedures. Additionally, the organization strives to educate the community about animal welfare. Over the years, the entirely volunteer-run Dogwood has had a significant impact on the lives of numerous dogs and cats. This impact ranges from providing a support system to animals in distress due to losing their homes to delivering essential medical care to those in need. Moreover, Dogwood also makes free or inexpensive spaying and neutering services accessible to underserved rural regions within the county.

RRV and Dogwood have organized several fundraising events in the past, and they are planning to host a Happy Hour on June 14th, 2023 to raise funds for this worthy cause. We cordially invite you and your furry friends to join us at RRV for this event!
